The new Village Store in Harlaxton – So convenient!
Harlaxton villagers have given a very warm welcome to new Village Store owners, Meru and Jayani Karavadra, who are proud to support the local and wider community with essential goods and services, seven days a week. It’s a highly convenient option for anyone living locally who doesn’t want to trek into town for a few groceries, send or collect a parcel, pay a bill or take cash out.
Meru used to be a telecoms engineer, but was keen to start his own business in a nice area with good schools. After travelling over daily from Leicester to transform the inside of the store and start trading, now he and his family have moved to live locally and his daughter attends the village school.
There’s a wide range of fresh, chilled and frozen groceries, including bread, milk, fruit and vegetables, pet food, off-license, confectionary, household goods and newspapers and magazines, which can be reserved on request for collection, as can any items.
In addition, Meru is delighted to offer produce from popular local suppliers well known for their quality, including artisan bread, cakes and savouries from Hambleton Bakery (deliveries Tues/Fri), sausage rolls, scotch eggs and more from Grantham butchers Watkin & Son (deliveries Tues/Thurs/Sat), preserves from Tudor Lodge–Jane’s Jams and fresh, free-range eggs from Dungehill Farm. Plus, every Wednesday and Saturday, home-made spring rolls and samosas freshly made by Jayani arrive in-store. They are proving to be very popular and there are plans to include home-cooked biriyanis and curries in time, for a truly authentic Indian experience.
To help with keeping organised, customers can pay all kinds of utility bills via PayPoint, buy stamps, organise the sending and collection of parcels via Evri and DHL, Amazon Returns and Collect+, and there are plans to introduce more services including Fedex and DPD in the near future. Cash back is also available (£1.50 admin fee).
