On the 6th September the Bottesford Garden Association will be holding their fabulous annual show at the Village Hall. It’s a brilliant event for all ages, with free entry, and great cakes provided by the WI. What’s not to like?
There are classes for flowers, vegetables, arts and home crafts, so if gardening isn’t your thing but you can bake a great cake or a take a good photograph please download a schedule from www.bottesfordgardenassociation.weebly.com and see how many classes you can enter. There are children’s classes too, so getting ready for the show is a great summer holiday activity. Just read the schedule for guidance and make sure your entries are presented according to the class information.
If you want to get competitive about showing, and we all have a secret streak of this, check out the RHS website for guidance www.rhs.org.uk/vegetables/exhibition . If you get the showing bug then you’ll need to buy varieties of flowers, fruit and vegetables that look good and grow well for the show bench. www.dtbrownseeds.co.uk/collections/exhibition-vegetable-seeds – other suppliers are available. Of course, our shop which is open on Sunday mornings has seeds for sale and will offer an ordering service over the winter. A great activity for those winter nights planning a triumph on the show bench. For those that don’t know it, is at the junction of Easthorpe Road and Grantham Road. We sell composts, fertilizers and other garden sundries.
You can support the organisation more and join for just £1 for your first year and gain the benefits of Affiliated Royal Horticultural Society Membership which includes discounts, and individual advice from the RHS scientists.
Here’s to a successful show and hope to see you there.
