Located on St Peter’s Hill, the Guildhall is home to the Guildhall Arts Centre, which offers a wide range of entertainment, creativity, and local engagement. Originally commissioned in 1866 by Mayor Thomas Winter.

Today, the building hosts everything from live theatre, music, and comedy to film screenings, art exhibitions, and workshops. Its intimate theatre space is a favourite for both professional touring shows and local amateur performances, providing a welcoming stage for talent of all levels. The ballroom, once used for civic events, is now a multi-functional venue for classes, community meetings, weddings, and parties.

The Guildhall is also home to a café and regular markets and fairs, making it a lively meeting point for residents and visitors. Whether you’re catching a family-friendly show, joining a yoga class, or just grabbing a coffee with friends, the building offers something for everyone.

The arts centre plays an important role in supporting local creativity. It runs community art projects, youth theatre programmes, and school partnerships, helping to nurture the next generation of performers, artists, and creative minds. It also offers space for artists and makers to exhibit their work, adding colour and personality to the venue throughout the year.

While the building retains many of its original features and charm, its focus today is firmly on inclusivity, creativity, and community spirit. Whether you’re a regular visitor or discovering it for the first time, the Guildhall is a welcoming place that reflects the diverse interests of modern Grantham.
