Stamford Town Guided Tours offer a fascinating way to explore one of England’s most beautiful historic towns. Lasting around 90 minutes, the tours are led by the Mayor’s Guides, who bring Stamford’s story to life with a mix of history, architecture, and local anecdotes. Along the route, visitors discover the town’s medieval origins, its elegant Georgian architecture, and some of the legends and characters that shaped its past. With over 600 listed buildings, Stamford provides the perfect backdrop for a guided walk filled with insight and charm.

Tours usually begin outside Stamford Town Hall on St Mary’s Hill, and participants are advised to arrive a little early. From April to October, guided walks run on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 11 am, with an additional Friday tour at 2 pm. During the quieter months of November to March, a public walk is held on Wednesdays at 11 am, while private tours can be arranged at other times. Tickets cost around £9 per person and can be booked in advance or paid for on the day.

In addition to the regular town tours, themed and seasonal walks are also available. These may focus on particular aspects of Stamford’s history or provide a festive twist, such as Christmas walks complete with mulled wine. Whichever option you choose, the tours are a relaxed and enjoyable way to discover hidden details, learn surprising stories, and see the town in a new light. Afterward, visitors can continue their day exploring Stamford’s independent shops, traditional pubs, and welcoming cafés, making the experience a perfect blend of history and leisure.
