Grantham & District Camera Club was founded in 1967. We are a friendly club who welcome like-minded people, and we meet on a weekly basis from Sept-April. Our members ages range from 17-90 yrs. We are also affiliated with other Associations and Federations.

During the difficult period we all went through as a nation we made the decision to move forward and use Zoom. It certainly proved a success and got our club moving in the right direction – I must say that without Zoom, our club would not be here today! We also had to decide when to go back to our premises which I must say was daunting. It took a long time trying to persuade members to come to the club, but we got there in the end.

We believe that joining our photography club is one of the best ways to start and improve your skills. The club can also be a good venue for meeting people who share the same interest as yours. This is why we love photography so much. Photography helps us to communicate through photographs and help us share our memories with others. Photography allows us to express and bring out the beauty in front of us – it is all in the detail! As photographers we notice the trivial things.

Is it better to have a small camera club with excellent quality events than a large camera club with little or no activities? Being a smaller club allows us to spend time developing events you think other photographers would love to participate in. Our club will grow at a comfortable rate with superior quality events.

Our programme also includes dedicated nights for delivering tuition and appraisals on members images and prints. Visiting professional judges and lecturers give feedback along with their comments and scores during our competition nights, and members that cannot attend on the night can join us by our Zoom facility. This encourages members to move forward and enter both internal and external competitions.

We also organise social events, day trips, residential trips, and workshops that have proven to be a remarkable success as it brings members together working as a valued team. Along with introducing an introductory basic photography course, it is most important to involve our local community giving them a wellbeing experience and self believe in themselves which also makes them inclusive and participatory. This helps to promote the club and its members through the public display of photography providing an outlet for the expression of creativity and sharing of skills and experiences.
