As the summer months roll by, events of
Eastertime seem a distant memory….
“What’s going on? How can a whole country have a power cut?” were the questions on our lips one sunny Monday afternoon. 
In the last issue I wrote about the bronze statue of Wojtek the Soldier Bear in Edinburgh. He was a much-loved hero
of the Polish nation from the Second World War.
Apart from one memorable veterinary
experience, my encounters with BEARS
have been confined to seeing them in captivity, along with some in the wild in Canada. 
“Is that the vet?” roared the voice on the
other end of the telephone. “What do
you mean, you’re not Mr Oliver? You’d
better be good, and get here pronto, young man!”
Christmas over and we have been sorting things out at home. The study seems full of boxes of family heirlooms and documents which have accumulated after the inevitable sad passing of dearly loved relatives.
