Established in 2000, our original identity, (GADDFAS), became The Arts Society Grantham in 2017. We are well-placed to support the aims of our parent, registered charity The Arts Society www.theartssociety.org. The Arts Society through its Member Societies preserves and contributes to our artistic heritage through volunteering and grants. Today, there are 380 Member Societies and 93,000 members worldwideAt regional level we are part of the East Midlands Area, which provides expert support in Heritage Volunteering and Discovery Trails projects.

Members enjoy entry to 10 high-grade lectures from September to June, 11:00-12:00, every third Tuesday of the month. Our subject coverage has broadened over the years to include the changing social context of art over the centuries, and Asian and African sources of art. We also provide a number of Visits and in-depth Study Days which are subject to a charge to cover costs. Complimentary tea/coffee is provided before each lecture.

In September, The Arts Society published a beautiful book Fifty Treasures of the East Midlands Area, which can be purchased for £10 by contacting Grantham’s Publicity Officer Glenda Rousseau at glendarpq@gmail.com. The book brings to the reader high-quality images and explanatory text relating to 50 lesser-known treasures throughout the East Midlands – such as Creswell Crags, Harringworth Viaduct, Easton Gardens, Willoughby Gallery, and Great Central Rail in Loughborough. A must-have stocking-filler.

In our immediate region, there are sister Arts Societies providing services to their members in
